Search Loyalty Policy
Search Loyalty Programs
“Search Loyalty Programs” are programs that reward users for their on-going use of a search property and are allowed if approved by Web Search Provider and if Publishers meet the following requirements :
● Publishers must have the ability to track on-going use of the Search Loyalty Program by each user.
● Given the higher likelihood of abuse with loyalty rewards, Publishers must have adequate and appropriate controls in place to monitor and remove suspicious traffic and usage patterns.
● Publishers must allow users to search without requiring users to participate in the Search Loyalty Program or having to create a Search Loyalty Program Account.
● If the user is the intended beneficiary of a Search Loyalty Program, then the Publisher may only reward users that are authenticated, or otherwise logged-in, to a Search Loyalty Program.
Search Loyalty Programs must not be structured in a way that users are incented in any way to click on Paid Results. Examples of prohibited structures include:
● Requiring or incentivizing clicks or conversions in any way, including clicks on Paid Results to gain loyalty-based rewards or benefits.
● Inserting interstitials or “offer walls” which contain Paid Results as a condition for obtaining loyalty- based rewards or benefits.
● Making the reward contingent on whether the user ultimately clicks on a search result, including a Paid Result.
Search Loyalty Programs are not allowed on Display-To-Search/2-Click or arbitrage Implementations. Search Loyalty Programs that encourage clicks are not allowed. This includes behaviors such as:
· Phrases, captions, and animations such as “click here” which point to the Paid Results.
· Using flashing arrows or gimmicks around the Paid Results to encourage clicks.
· Moving Paid Search Results across the page with the intent to attract the attention of users.
Rewarding users with cash is strictly prohibited. Rewarding users with gift cards, points, prizes, or contest entries are acceptable rewards.
