Use of Tracker Protection with Private Search Policy
Last update: June 2020
1. Overview
Tracker protection refers, broadly, to features that limit, disrupt, block, or otherwise reduce the ability to track users once they have viewed an ad.
2. Requirements & Restrictions
Implementations containing tracker protection features that 1) are enabled by default and 2) differ from the tracker protection features found in the then-current version of Web Search Provider are only permitted if they comply with the following requirements and restrictions:
Requirements:
· The Implementation must contain a privacy-enabling feature, as required by the Private Search Policy, and otherwise be compliant with the Private Search Policy. For clarity, the Implementation must contain a privacy-enabling feature that is different from any supporting features, exceptions, or solutions provided by Web Search Provider.
· Publisher must obtain CodeFuel d/b/a Perion (“Company”) and/or Web Search Provider approval for an “IP Exception” for the Implementation. The Publisher must receive, from the Company and/or Web Search Provider, a finalized Appendix to the Private Search Policy detailing the process, requirements, and eligibility criteria granting the IP Exception.
· Publishers and the Implementation must comply with the Guidelines and the Agreement.
Restrictions
Publishers and the Implementation must not block nor otherwise interfere with:
- Web Search Provider -controlled advertising on Web Search Provider -owned properties. For clarity, this includes search advertising and the Web Search Provider Audience Network (MSAN).
- Advertising delivered on a property by that property’s owner (or a corporate affiliate of the property’s owner).
- Advertising delivered on any property by Web Search Provider (or a Web Search Provider corporate affiliate).
- Conversion tracking related to Web Search Provider Advertising or Network.
3. Permissible Tracker Protection Features
Implementations that satisfy Section 3, Requirements & Restrictions, of this document may contain tracker protection features that:
- Block additional or different trackers than those blocked by the then-current version of Web Search Provider software.
- Block trackers using a differing methodology than the then-current version of Web Search Provider software.
- May be enabled by default.
